If you’ve been following the Indian SUV space lately, you already know how competitive things have gotten. Every brand is pushing harder, adding more, and trying to one-up the other. So when the Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift was recently spotted testing near Delhi — with emission-testing equipment on board — it was hard not to get a little excited. This isn’t just a visual refresh. Maruti is clearly cooking up something more serious this time.

Let’s start with the part everyone’s most curious about — the engine. The current 1.5-litre petrol has done its job well, but it’s been around for a while now. Reports suggest Maruti might replace it with either a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated unit or a punchy 1.0-litre turbo-petrol. Both already exist in Maruti’s own lineup, so this isn’t just wishful thinking. And as a bonus, a smaller engine could mean lower RTO taxes in many states, which is always a pleasant surprise at the time of purchase. Add in the rumoured 6-speed manual gearbox, a first for the Brezza, and driving enthusiasts suddenly have a reason to care again.
On the outside, Maruti isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel — and honestly, they don’t need to. A sharper grille, new triangular fog lamps, 16-inch alloys, and silver skid plates should give the Brezza a more confident, road-ready stance. But the detail that’s really turning heads is the radar unit spotted in the front bumper. That’s a strong hint at ADAS tech — adaptive cruise control, lane assist, collision warning — the kind of stuff that used to be reserved for much pricier cars. If it makes it to production, the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Kia Sonet will have a proper fight on their hands.
Inside, things are getting a meaningful upgrade too. Picture a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, a refreshed instrument cluster, a new steering wheel, a 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, and possibly a panoramic sunroof. For CNG buyers specifically, there’s potentially great news — Maruti may shift the gas cylinder to an underbody position, finally giving you back the boot space that factory CNG setups have always eaten into. That alone would make a lot of buyers very happy.
So when does all this arrive? Most reports are pointing to mid-2026, with July being the most likely window. Prices will go up a little, no surprises there. But looking at the full picture — new tech, sharper design, better features, and possible ADAS — it genuinely feels like an upgrade worth waiting for.
